But does Barbara still like him?

President Bush's has been having problems in the polls for a while now, and his numbers just keep dropping. A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll just released puts his approval numbers at under a third (32% +/-3). That's probably not the number that has him feeling the most pain right now, though. That honor most likely goes to the pitiful 33% approval number from last week's FOX News poll. If things get much worse, he's only going to have his immediate family left on the plus side of the equation.

But he's got a plan to regain his popularity -- lower the price of gas! How is he going to achieve this miracle? By reducing the conflict level in the Middle East and the war rhetoric directed at Iran? By limiting oil company profit margins? Of course not. He'll make gas cheaper by lowering EPA standards for clean-burning fuel this summer.

What a maroon.

Watch for a release of oil from the strategic reserve, that ought to lower the price a couple of pennies. It may be too late for him no matter what he does. Let's hope that there will be a Democratic Congress in 2007, then an impeachment of the entire administration would be sweet.

There is no real plan to lower the price of gasoline other than to keep feeding the public lines of bullshit that are meant to give the appearance of work when in fact its just jawboning. If he really want to do something he'd threaten signing the windfall tax. That would start to get the Oil industry's attention.

Me, I'm waiting for the DHS to issue another terror alert. Used to work like a charm.

How 'bout a terror alert over a threat to the strategic oil reserve? He could make higher gas prices patriotic!
